Fun Place To Go
in Chicagoland

Villa Olivia
This is a great winter location in Bartlett Illinois. Bartlett is located in the western suburbs of Chicago. It is a skiing and snow tubing club. You can snow tube there in two hour increments for a fee. Children under 5 years old are lap riders only. My kids had an amazing time here. There is a tow rope that pulls you up the hill on your tube each time you go down. Go early as it is a popular place. If you get there and there are no tubes left, you get put on a waiting list. There is a lodge with snacks too.
Morton Arboretum
Morton Arboretum is located in Lisle Illinois, also in the western suburbs of Chicago. It is a grand outdoor wonderland of beauty. There are always activities going on that change with the seasons. Kids can run around and be loud. There are tram tours daily and a great restaurant. It is cafeteria style but with a large open dining area facing the water. There is great food and kid friendly too. Right now SNOWSHOEING is a big activity out there and if you are a member it is free!
Lincoln Park Zoo
This zoo is located in the Lincoln Park area of the the city of Chicago.
Great thing about this zoo is that it is FREE. It is open all year and is a beautiful place for kids to run around and enjoy great animals. There are activities all year. The winter lights around the holidays are always enjoyed. There is limited parking and food areas throughout.
Museum of Science and Industry
Visit the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. This place is amazing! My kids stayed there for 5 or 6 hours when they were there and had a ton to do. Check out the FREE DAYS offered each month. They change monthly so watch for them!
Art Institute of Chicago
This place has changed so much! We were just there to see the new addition. It is beautiful and has some very interesting art. Interesting being the word. There were some fun areas for kids and a really neat miniature house exhibit. Incredible miniature houses with recreations of the furniture from the time period of the house, as well as the fabrics used. This museum has FREE DAYS every Thursday from 5-9 in the evening. Not the perfect time for young children, but catch it during vacations and institute days if you can!
The Field Museum in Chicago
Another great place to check out. There are several exhibits kids will enjoy as well as adults of course. Some of the exhibits include: Evolving Planet, Sue the T-Rex, Mummies and what its like under the earth. FREE DAYS are every 2nd Monday of the month and several other FREE DAYS are also offered each month so make sure to check the schedule.

Lucky Strike Lanes
Lucky Strike Lanes is a fun upscale bowling alley with locations all over the United States. Locally, there are locations in Chicago and Yorktown Mall in Lombard. I took my kids there last weekend and although it is pricey, it was a fun time for a once in a while thing. The atmosphere is dark and they have couches and tables at each lane. They also have a good bar menu, although they do not have a kids menu. My kids loved it! We had lunch and you are not rushed off your lane if you are finishing your meal or taking a break to eat. Check the website for more information and to see a menu.
