Setting Pixel Resolution for the Best Quality Prints
Most point and shoot cameras have a choice of resolution settings.
Most casual camera users often forget to adjust this setting for their
pictures. You should always shoot at the highest resolution in case
you want to enlarge your photo. The downside to setting the highest
resolution is that you can't take as many photos on your memory card.
I use a Sandisk card which is a very reliable brand that works with any
camera and usually comes with software to recover images on a corrupt
card which sometimes happens.
Most printers do not require a minimum resolution for the images you
upload for printing. When they indicate the largest size you can
print, it is usually at a minimum quality resolution. The higher the
resolution of your images the better the print quality. Many printers
use 250ppi-300ppi (pixels per inch) Below is a list of maximum and
minimum pixels at 250ppi for popular print sizes.
(Maximum) (Minimum)
4x6 1000x1500 400x600
5x7 1250x1750 500x700
8x10 2000x2500 800x1000
8.5x11 2125x2750 850x1100
Remember to take pictures all the time!!
