Finding A Babysitter

How to find good babysitters!
1. Ask friends and family members if they know anyone.
2. Ask at church and local community centers you are familiar with.
3. Check at local community colleges for job board access. Most colleges will let you place job posts on the student website. I did this several times at College of Dupage and Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.
4. Always call the references you are given. We all want to know the truth and to hear from other parents about their experiences.
Also remember.....
Ask how much they charge and check with references to see what they paid the sitter.
Tell your sitter EXACTLY what you want from the very first meeting so there is no misunderstanding.
Remember to go over what to do in case of an emergency. Seems easy but many people never talk with their sitters about specific accidents or issues and what they should do.
Have the sitter come over and play with your kids while you are home. If you have kids
that are older than 3 or so you can talk with them about the sitter and see what they thought. My 8 year old tells me all about the sitter when they leave.
