How To Store Your Food In Bags Correctly
1. Make sure to get the air out before you seal the bag
2. Match the size of the bag as closely as possible to the food item size. Too much space between food and the seal can speed freezer burn and deterioration.
3. Double Bag smelly foods so the smell does not spread
4. Do not keep deli meats more than 3-5 days after you open them even if stored in a bag.
Removing Lipstick From A Purse Lining
You can usually use liquid dish soap from most cotton or polyester handbag linings.
For other materials you should take it to a dry cleaner. If you do use the dish soap,
dilute a capful with equal amounts of warm water. Apply the mixture with a q-tip in
a circular motion to the stain. Keep changing out the q-tip for a clean one, so you don't
put the stain back on.

Homemade Laundry Soap Recipe
This mom Lori told me about this recipe for Laundry Soap.
1 bar of Fels Naptha soap or any bar soap that does not contain lotion
1/2 cup Arm and Hammer Washing Soda
1/2 cup Borax
Grate the bar soap, (she uses a Pampered Chef shredder to grate the soap),
add washing soda and Borax. After grating the soap you put everything in
a food processor, the soap curls are broken down into granules and all
of the ingredients are mixed together. Store in airtight container.Use
1 tablespoon per load of laundry. This soap works well with HE
machines. For white loads she still adds bleach to the soap. She
also notes you can adjust the amount of soap you used based on your own
family and laundry cleaning results. She uses 1/4 cup and makes a
larger batch.
Legos That Fall Apart During Assembly
A
great tip from this mom Pam is for lego building. Whenever we had a
large set, we would find that certain pieces kept breaking off and then
it made it difficult to get other pieces on. We decided to start crazy
gluing some more difficult pieces together. This worked great. We did
it for airplane wings or flap type pieces. Great little tip that
really helped make it less frustrating.
Doing Laundry
This mom told me about how she does her laundry
to make it easier on the sorting and putting away. She washes each
child's laundry separately. First I thought this would be more work,
but it is actually really easy and efficient. I wash my son's stuff
all together
and fold it then put the basket in his room and he puts it
away. This ended the stacks of laundry baskets in my room waiting to
be sorted. It has been great for my kids. If they
do not put all of
it away, it gets taken back downstairs with the basket collection and
they don't have clean stuff. Even my five year old daughter puts it
away pretty well!
Keeping Video Area Clean
My kids have a Wii and we all love it. They play
only on the weekends unless they are
having a special friend over for
some reason. The rule here is if they leave the controls
and games out
on the floor or anywhere other then the basket area they lose whatever
I found. This has helped a lot because I took two games and all the
remotes for a whole weekend because they were left out. They still had
the video time, but there were no controllers left.
